Have you ever complimented a business social media page? Chances are they have an awesome design that caught your attention. This is what the online platform Canva is for.
What is Canva? Canva is a graphic design platform, used to create social media graphics, presentations, posters, documents, and other visual content. The online platform includes templates for users to use.
With Canva, you do not have to be a graphic design professional to edit and design photos and layouts.

Here are some tips on how to use Canva. So let’s get started!
First what you should do is, of course, Sign Up for free. You can do so by using your Google, Facebook, or your email account, whichever you want to use. Once you’re done, you can already start creating either your custom design or you can choose from their wide selection of free templates. You can also upgrade to Canva Pro to unlock other features and templates.
CHOOSE A TEMPLATE.
- As mentioned above, Canva has a vast array of free templates that you can choose from. For this guide let us choose Instagram Post.
CHOOSE A DESIGN
- Once you clicked on Instagram posts, you will be presented with a lot of designs you can choose from or you can create it from scratch. For this blog, I will choose a free template for my Instagram Post (and it will also serve as a cover for this blog, hehe.)
CUSTOMIZE THE TEMPLATE
- This is where the fun begins. On the left side of the screen and also at the top of the page you will see the elements you can use to edit your design. If you don’t like a color, font, or image in a template, you can customize the layout, design, and formatting of your post image by clicking on any element, or upload your image to Canva to place in the template.
DOWNLOAD YOUR DESIGN
- Once you are happy with your design, click the download button in the upper right corner of your screen. You can choose the file type whether it is PNG, JPG, PDF Standard, PDF Print, MP4 Video, or GIF.
This what the result of my Instagram Post. It is simple but it is bright and has some artsy feel to it, which is what I am aiming for.
